Environmental Health Safety & Management Program

What We Do

Neighborhoods make a city vibrant – the people, the businesses, the parks, and the culture.  When neighborhoods are subjected to vacant abandon homes and vacant lots, a neighborhood can lose its energy. In these areas, illegal dumping, health and safety issues can increase the potential for criminal activity to occur. Environmental Health Safety & Management is committed to serving the residents of Marion County and assisting neighborhoods to help them stay vibrant and beautiful.

Environmental Health Safety & Management helps neighborhoods reclaim their vibrancy by cleaning up abandoned properties when no one else will take responsibility.  The department participates in citywide clean ups efforts and partners with multiple neighborhood organizations when they sponsor clean up events to keep their neighborhoods clean and improve the quality of life for the residents. Environmental Health Safety & Management’s Tool Loan Program offers a free tool loan to any resident of Marion County upon request. Environmental Health Safety & Management also can assist residents with Billing Lien Releases, Public Records Request and Administrative Hearing Requests. Staff from EHSM have been known to help with snow removal and heavy debris pickup in alley ways due to illegal dumping.
