Chronic Disease
What We Do
We’re here to make it easier for people to eat nutritious food, have an active lifestyle, and avoid tobacco and related products — helping people develop and maintain healthy lives.
Our staff provides education services to Marion County neighborhoods, worksites, places of worship, schools, and community health centers. We work with community stakeholders and partners to address policy, systems and environmental approaches to enabling healthier lifestyles.
Each of the Chronic Disease Department’s programs objectives are set in line with the needs of the community, the goals of the Health Department, and the national goals outlined by the United States Department of Health and Human Services.
