ABC’s of Diabetes

What We Do

Managing and preventing diabetes: it’s what the ABC’s of Diabetes Self-Management Education/Support program of the Marion County Public Health Department is all about.

These educational services help adults with diabetes or pre-diabetes achieve and maintain good health, preventing complications that may develop from uncontrolled diabetes. We empower them — and their friends and family — to increase their knowledge and skills for successful diabetes self-management. We also provide education to individuals with pre-diabetes, to delay or prevent type 2 diabetes.

The ABC’s of Diabetes is accredited by the Association of Diabetes Care & Education Specialist. It’s a four-part series, and includes instruction on medications, nutrition, exercise, monitoring, complications and available community resources.

This program is free and open to anyone with diabetes or pre-diabetes, as well as friends and family. Pre-registration is required to attend.

Classes are available in-person and online. The schedule is available below, or at the “Connect With Us” link along with more information. Questions? Email us at Diabetes@MarionHealth.org or call 317.221.2094.
