Alcohol, Tobacco, and Other Drugs

What It’s About

For grades 5 through 12, this program offers 6 to 10 lessons (depending on the grade level) and qualifies as a service learning project.

All grades will cover the topics of what tobacco, alcohol, and other substances are, and their health repercussions. Older students will go further in depth on topics like driving while intoxicated and how to support their friends who are quitting or abstaining from drug use.

The curriculum will cover how to say no to substance use, analyzing advertisements, and how to identify and react to external pressures — to name a few.

At the end of the program, students will be asked to participate in a service learning project for them to show their knowledge and mastery on the skills they learned. They will be asked to present a persuasive solution to the problem of alcohol, tobacco, and other drug use among youth. This will allow them to advocate for a drug-free environment.
